Seems like xcb reports another symbol for the y key other than the expected XK_Y.

I suggest you just add your keybindings manually. Everyone should probably do that anyway, both for better customization, plus making it easier to remember keybindings.

Can you do the following: 1. Right-click in a track to show popup menu. 2. Right-click "Velocity text" 3. Select "Change keybinding for ..." 4. Press left alt + y 5. Select "Yes". And then post the added line shown under Help -> Edit Keybindings. My line looks like this...

Also, can you test "Help -> Debugging -> Test error message" to ensure error messages are shown? Sounds like keyboard isn't initialized correctly and then an error message should be shown.

Oh, and left alt is used for moving all nodes simultaneously. And left extra is to limit in horizontal direction. And left ctrl is for finetuning. So there are no more modifier keys available on the left side of the keyboard.
